Suncook Valley Railroad Structure Plans

Most of the plans available here were obtained from the National Archives in Maryland.  They were documented for the B&M's ICC Valuation Survey during field surveys undertaken during 1915.  I have far more additional documentation covering both these structures (interior features, material lists, condition notes, etc,) as well as many other aspects of the railroad documented at that time, such as track notes, cross section notes, track material inventories, ad infinitum.  I copied over 400 pages of documents, plus all of the relevant valuation survey maps, when I was there.  If there is something in particular you need, I probably have it.  I also have documents covering the Suncook Loop, and just a bit on the area around the Hooksett depot.

Pittsfield Passenger Depot- Unfortunately, plans for the Pittsfield Depot were not recorded by the ICC Survey crew, as the B&M built the structure in 1900 and had recent drawings of the building on file (Plans S-506-50, 10 prints.) However, I do have a sketch on the Valuation Map, as well as interior notes, calculation sheets (which have some dimensions ,) and condition notes that a modeler could use to help replicate the station, while the B&MRRHS does have two sheets of the aforementioned drawing in their files.

Hooksett Freight House - Note: this building was South of the NH Division's Merrimack River bridges. When they were replaced in 1931, much of the yard in that location, and perhaps this freight house, was removed. New

Suncook Water Tank - Tank New
Suncook Water Tank - Foundation New
Suncook Turntable - This was not installed until 1926, and thus was not available for the Valuation Survey crews to inventory in 1914.  However, since it is understood to have been the same 50' Sellers C.I. Turntable as was located at Center Barnstead, that sheet may be of some use.  Prior to independent operation in 1924, B&M trains ran down to Manchester and would turn the locomotive there.  Those trains only briefly ran in reverse from the switchback to the Suncook depot.  However, while the Suncook Valley trains ran with the locomotive facing ahead on their way south, they were required to back the engine all the way for the northbound return trip to Center Barnstead.

Center Barnstead Engine House New - In 1927, coal and sand bins and a stationary boiler were installed inside the engine house itself.  The former was 18'3" wide at one end and 8' wide at the other, in order to fit the wedge shaped stall.  The bin was 36'8" long and 4' deep.  The new sand bin was 6'x6'x6'.  Both were constructed of second hand lumber.  The upright tubular boiler, also second hand and intended for washing the locomotive, was 5' high, 2' diameter, and operated at 100# of steam pressure.
Center Barnstead Water Tank - The 50,000 gallon tank detailed here would be replaced by the B&M in 1924 with a new 35,000 gallon tank.  The existing foundation and much of the hardware was reused at that time. New

Bridges

US Rt 3 Overpass, Allenstown

Hooksett highway bridge: The "Lilac" bridge was removed in July of 2017.  While I acquired several very substantial pieces of the bridge, the bridge was documented in some detail: history, drawings, recent & historic photos, etc, for the Town of Hooksett.  The two part report can be found here:
